Media Makers Club: Descript, Camtasia, Video and Podcasting Training

Excellent thus far! Cristi takes time to dig into details and makes the course interesting too. Thank you. This is just what I've been looking for.

The series provides a comprehensive and easy-to-follow guide for podcasters and content creators looking to elevate their skills. The training covers all the essential topics, from audio editing to script editing and templates. Cristi's wealth of knowledge and clear teaching style makes complex concepts easy to understand. I highly recommend this series to anyone looking to improve their podcasting or content creation skills. It is truly the best training available and should be your first choice.

I use Descript heavily to edit videos I create with subject matter experts (SMEs). I am an instructional designer, not a video editor, so I was using Descript for nothing more than cutting and pasting videos into the best order. I realized I was just using a bare minimum of Descript’s power, but the interface was intimidating, and I didn’t have the time. Now, after taking Cristi’s course, my skills have expanded considerably. I can now add media to the timeline through scenes, do powerful transcript/subtitle editing, use studio sound to improve audio quality in one swoop, and even create overdub audio on the fly. I have been doing instructional design for over 10 years and I am CPLP certified. The course is well structured and easy to navigate with an extensively tiered navigation scheme that allows one to get quick answers. This is an excellent course and will save you a ton of time.

Cristian knows his stuff and makes Descript easy to learn. I loved the section where I gradually created an audiogram from scratch by adding various elements such as captions, logos, and shapes. The explanations were very clear, easy to understand, and detailed. Even complex topics are explained, so a beginner like me can understand the concept and put it into practice—a very well-organized course.

Cristi Cotovan is a master at explaining Descript Storyboard in a way that is understandable to users with no previous video or audio editing background and to users familiar with Descript Classic who are moving to Storyboard, while also highlighting features and functions useful to more advanced video / audio editors. The organization of the course enables experienced users to quickly find modules on specific advance topics, while enabling more novice users to focus first on basics. A key to the value of the tutorials is that Cristi explains not only how to execute various functions, but also Descript’s operation at a more strategic level--for example, the fact that Storyboard encourages users to work within the script and canvas rather than in the timeline, and the key role that scenes play in Storyboard. The pacing is just right, with just enough repetition of key concepts to make a point while not belaboring information. I loved the effect of seeing Cristi in the corner of the screen as he walked through the tutorials in screen share mode--like having an advisor standing by your side! I can’t recommend Cristi’s course highly enough for Descript users at any level.

I bought this course the moment I knew it was available. My reasoning was this - Cristi is a great teacher in person (one on one) and so to have the course is just having Cristi available 24 / 7 for learning and problem solving. I could not think of a better scenario for someone like me seeking to learn the Descript Storyboard as a beginner but with a desire to constantly up my game. I am still in the fairly new stages of this whole process of learning Descript but the progress has been great. I have not finished the course but I have completed almost 40% and at this point it delivers well and Cristi's voice, mannerisms, and clarity make it a must have for me. If I had one suggestion (at this point) it would be that the description of the varies lessons might be more general user friendly (I am old and slow) such as: Lesson # How to put photos into your project, the simple and effective manner of correcting a transcript.... as opposed to the titles (which are 100% correct and completely in line with the Descript program) but for me and maybe others if I could hit search bar for the video that gives me the step by step to inserting my video, audio etc / or how to edit transcript effectively and efficiently - something like that would help me. I know its there I just don't always know the easy way to get to the training video. Cristi is a very effective teacher and this course is like an extended personal conversation with him. Thank you for this very great tool that works for people like me and for most of you who are way ahead of me.
